HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE

Enter the
Wild

Snuggled between coulees and a sprawling 200-acre nature preserve, Helen Schuler Nature Centre is located directly beneath the iconic High Level Bridge. A stone’s throw away from downtown, Helen Schuler is a great spot for a midday escape to a quiet slice of untouched nature.

Exhibits

Every year, the centre hosts up to six indoor and outdoor exhibits, including artist showcases, interactive displays – even live local flora and fauna.

For the Nature Centre’s current exhibits, check out their Plan a Visit page!

Interpretive Trails

The centre acts as something of a trailhead for the 200-kilometre network of pathways (carved out by both humans and wildlife) within the preserve. After visiting the Nature Centre, stretch your legs in the surrounding four distinct ecosystems, including:

  • Prairies

  • Coulees

  • Cottonwood forest

  • Natural floodplain

You may even meet some deer, a weasel or an owl along the way!

The Nature Centre also offers three guided tours focused on local birds, mammals or the beautiful Cottonwood forest along the river bottom.
