Luckily, we have a list of the best things for students to do in Lethbridge so that you can fill time between your classes with stress free fun! If it's your first time living in Lethbridge, or you’re a Lethbridgian at heart, exploring the city doesn’t have to be difficult! Here are some free tours that will take you to places even locals don’t know about.

Learn the Lay of the Land with Driftscape!

History & Art All Around!

Through the Driftscape app, Tourism Lethbridge has a wide range of free, self-guided, walking tours available. You can learn about the history of Downtown Lethbridge, discover the back alleys of the city, and find the best selfie locations at the river bottom. There are also tours that take you outside of the city including Canada’s Food Tours, and the Highway 3 Ale Trail. 

With more than 50 public art pieces you don’t have to look far to experience it. With over 30 pieces in the downtown area alone, you can explore Downtown Lethbridge while also taking in its art.

Explore the Lethbridge Solar System!

You can also see the whole solar system in Lethbridge! The Lethbridge Astronomy Society has brought a 1:253,000,000 scale ratio model of the solar system to the city. With the Science Commons Building at the University of Lethbridge being home to Jupiter you don’t have to travel far from campus to live amongst the stars. Parks and Green Spaces

Lethbridge is home to over 130 parks and green spaces. This provides plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors and experience nature. Hiking and walking are typical activities in the warmer months, but in the winter, people take advantage of the outdoors through cross-country skiing, sledding, and other snowy activities. No matter the weather there is a park for you. 

Discover Disc Golf!

If you want to try something new, Disc Golf might be your newest hobby. With four courses located in the city, you can spend time outside while also playing a fun game! For a list of all the courses as well as maps the City of Lethbridge’s website has more information!

Hike High & Low!

Lethbridge is a hiker’s paradise as home to over 200 KM of outdoor trails. You can experience nature without having to leave the city! Home to an abundance of wildlife and plants, Lethbridge’s coulees are beautiful expansive and awe inspiring. Check out the hiking and biking options on AllTrails or on the City of Lethbridge’s website. Don’t forget to bring some water! 

The Helen Schuler Nature Center is also a great place to connect with nature. Helen Schuler Nature Center is home to a variety of exhibits, information, and knowledgeable volunteers who are always happy to help.

Enjoy Golf All Year at Evergreen Golf Course!

Evergreen Golf Centre’s driving range is open all year with Toptracer Range stalls Toptracer is an outdoor virtual gold ball tracer, and using technology you can play a variety of games and courses without having to leave the city! They also offer drink service and group rates making it a great experience for any size group! Evergreen Golf Centre also has a 9-hole golf course, standard driving range stalls, and an amazing mini-golf course.

Nightlife in the Windy City!

Good Times & Great Comedy at Good Times!

Live entertainment is as common as the wind in Lethbridge! Good Times Comedy Club is an independent comedy club that hosts professional comedy shows on the weekends along with open mic nights and other dedicated events during the week.

Have a Hoot at Owl Acoustic Lounge!

Owl Acoustic Lounge is a staple in the city when it comes to dinner, a show, and maybe even a few moves thrown around on the dance floor. A new line-up is released on the first of every month, so you get a group together to cheer on your favourite live acts. Open mic nights, local bands, poetry and trivia and more are bound to be found at the Owl.

Arcades & Escape Rooms Abound!

If you’re looking for a more laid back night out, there is still a plethora of things to do in Lethbridge, for example, escape rooms! Escape LA and The Great Escape have six rooms between the two locations as well as Underground Escape. Underground Escape can accommodate between 2-10 people and has a room built for competition with two teams competing against each other. History, Heritage, and Art Galore!

Amazing Art in the City!

You can get to all of Lethbridge’s local attractions with public transit, including three free art galleries and one paid! The first is located inside Casa and exhibits fine art from all over Southern Alberta.

There’s also the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG) which showcases a curated selection of art from Canada and beyond. An annual membership for students is only $15 and gives members free admission to the gallery, access to member-only events, and a discount on classes, as well as at the SAAG shop. The other two galleries are located at the University of Lethbridge!

Fun at Fort Whoop-Up!

You can learn all about Lethbridge’s history at Fort Whoop-Up, located in the river bottom. Learn all about the trading post days and take a walk through the fort. Tranquility and Culture At Nikka Yuko

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a tranquil escape in the heart of the city. Featuring a pavilion, water features, and a rock garden, visitors are welcome to explore the gardens in a peaceful environment. In the winter, the garden turns into a Winter Lights Festival allowing people to view the gardens in a new light! There is also free daily programming in the Bunka Centre that lets you experience Japan without leaving the city.
